Register for LI-CON and win a medieval tournament!

OK, we can’t guarantee that you will win an actual jousting match, but everyone who registers for LI-CON between now (July 27) and the end of pre-registration (Midnight, July 31) will be entered into a drawing to win a pair of tickets to Medieval Times. These tickets include dinner plus an evening’s entertainment. So sign up for LI-CON now and get a chance to win! Purchase multiple memberships and get more than one chance! If you sign up for the Family Pack, that will mean 4 entries in the raffle.

Get 100 memberships! 1000! OK, maybe that’s over the top.

If you have already registered, please tell your friends–this is a great offer that should not be missed.

The drawing and the announcement of the winner will be announced at the convention. The winner will be the owner of the credit card or PayPal account used to pay for the membership, not necessarily the person named on the membership.

Join early and often! Medieval Times await!

Attention, Gamers!

We’re going to start posting the games we have planned for LI-CON 2. Today: Card Games.

We plan to have either tournaments or organized sessions of these games:

  • Buddy Fight
  • Magic the Gathering
  • Red Dragon Inn
  • Van Guard
  • Weiss Schwartz

Remember that we will have a very large game library available 24 hours a day throughout the convention for open (or as I like to call it, “pickup”) gaming in our large game room.

Tomorrow: Role-Playing Games.

Help us pick something to riff!

One of the most popular things at LI-CON 1 was our own Katrina and Izaac riffing on SyFy’s Sharknado.

This time around, the team would like your help selecting short subjects to work on. Anything suggested must have a license that lets us modify and use the video, so either Public Domain or compatible Creative Commons licenses. Note that we’re a charitable corporation [501(c)(3)], so commercial licensing is not required.

Katrina suggests looking in the Prelinger Archive (https://archive.org/details/prelinger) as a starting point, but there are lots of other sources of free-license video out there.

Reminder: because they want to offer variety this year, please suggest only short videos, say under 30 minutes. Shorter videos are more likely to be selected.

Send your suggestions to riffs@li-con.org.

Thanks!
