Everyone enjoyed Paul Levinson‘s time at LI-CON 1. So this year he’s taken it up a couple of notches. Not only is he still the award-winning author and critic: this time around we have a movie make from one of his stories, and Paul will be performing some of his music. Watch the trailer for The Chronology Protection Case:
We’re proud to announce that Brimstone will bring some of his talents to our convention. I’m sure he’ll try to bring them all, but we have only 3 days and he’s an actor, pro wrestler, comic book creator, book publisher, game publisher, sauce and seasoning maker (!) and food show host. We can’t wait to see him.
We’re very happy to welcome Evan Bernstein: martial artist, financial professional, producer of the Skeptics’ Guide 5×5 podcast, and one of the co-hosts of The Skeptics Guide to the Universe.
Saturday night, come try your luck with our guests, as the audience battles to see who is the most horrible person.
Cards Against Humanity is a party game for horrible people. Each round, one guest asks a question from a Black Card, and participants in the audience answer with their funniest White Card. Play for prizes, play for keeps! Watch our guests struggle for the title of “LI-CON’s most horrible person!”
I’m incredibly proud to announce that the four-time Podcast Award-winning Skeptics’ Guide to the Universe will be attending LI-CON! The “Rogues” will record a show at our event, and they’ll also participate in panels and/or give talks.
The SGU has won 4 Podcast Awards and is consistently ranked as one of the top ten science podcasts. The Rogues have exactly the wide selection of skills and knowledge you’d expect from a “rogues gallery,” from neuroscience to martial arts to antique cannon replica manufacturing.
I look forward to seeing them in person again, and I know you’ll all enjoy seeing and meeting them.
If you have attended any science fiction conventions on the East Coast, or any World Science Fiction Conventions, you’ve seen and heard Erwin “Filthy Pierre” Strauss. He’s there, somewhere, playing music to make waiting on line less painful (and just because he loves music), attending panels, providing freeby racks and message boards just because he wants to help out.
He’s also a writer, member of the Filk Hall of Fame, and all-around great person to have at a convention. Come listen to him (or even say “Hi”).
Note: our membership rates go up at the end of April. That’s two weeks! This is your chance to lock in the current rate by getting your membership today!
We are delighted to announce that Andy Weir, author of The Martian (coming to the big screen from Fox in November!) will be making an appearance at LI-CON. Unfortunately he can’t be here in person, but we’re very happy to have him on live video chat. The Martian, Andy’s first published novel, hit #1 on the NY Times best-seller list and is still there after 23 weeks as I write this!
We’re delighted to have Roy back at LI-CON, and I know you are too. Say “Hi” to him in the Dealers Room, or attend the programming he will appear on, or admire his art in our new Art Show (more to come on the Art Show).
More anime that will be shown at LI-CON. Let me repeat our thanks to Funimation for permission to show these videos.
The Devil is a Part-TimerIn another dimension the Devil King Sadao is only one step away from conquering the world when he is beaten by Hero Emilia and forced to drift to the other world: modern-day Tokyo. As “conquering the world” are the only skills the Devil King possesses – and are obviously unnecessary in his new situation – he must work as a freeter to pay for his living expenses.
xxxHOLiCKimihiro Watanuki is a young boy with a cursed gift. He has the ability to see evil spirits, and somehow they seem attracted to himself. One day he meets a misterious woman who names herself Yuuko. She claims to have the means to end his torment, but she never works for free, and she wouldn’t help him until he works for her enough to pay for her services. Thus he starts to work in her shop and discovers that in that place, nothing is what it seems.
We are very pleased to have Jeff participate at LI-CON 2. Among his other accomplishments, Jeff has co-founded too many conventions to count on the fingers of one hand (if you’re a Simpsons character), including I-CON. He’s moderated more panels on more subjects than most events have even had, total, in their existence. I look forward to seeing him in August.
